Education Philosophy

Apple Tree preschool is a community of consistency, discovery and mutual respect.  Students feel a sense of security and support that enables them to find their talents and interests in foundational academic areas.

Cognitive & Emotional Development

Important milestones in fine and gross motor skills are woven into daily activities. Experiences are designed to spark curiosity, build skills, and empower young learners.

Introduction to the Broader World

Teachers strive to discover each child’s talent and interests. Early learning in the foundations of math, reading, science and the arts prepares each child for academic focus and kindergarten learning behaviors.

Community

Master educators make it their personal mission to celebrate every child and create a strong community. Each individual understands that he or she is special and can achieve great things. Apple Tree preschoolers work together to create better ideas and appreciate each other’s skills.

Curriculum

The Apple Tree preschool curriculum is structured on two key dimensions.  The foundation underlying daily activities is achievement in key development areas.  Overlain on this foundation are rich weekly lesson plans that include aspects of children’s selves, families and the broader world.

Each day is rooted in eight key areas of growth

  1. Fine and gross motor skills

  2. Self-care

  3. Speech development

  4. Cognitive reasoning

  5. Math readiness

  6. Reading readiness

  7. Social skills

  8. Emotional growth

Weekly Lesson Plans

These imaginative, interesting and fun lesson plans orient students to kindergarten learning, expand knowledge and develop critical thinking.  The classrooms transform to fit the curriculum with décor, learning aides and environments that reflect the lesson themes.

The arts are an essential part of each child’s day – igniting creativity, joy and connection.  Music weaves through daily routines, complemented by special Schoolhouse Symphony visits.  A diverse range of art activities inspires students to express themselves and deepen their understanding of weekly lessons.
