Education Philosophy
Each infant’s day is thoughtfully crafted to meet their developmental and caregiving needs. Apple Tree maintains a 4 to 1 child to teacher ratio to ensure meaningful brain-building interactions. We uphold health and safety standards that support young immune systems.
Individualized Care
Dedicated Apple Tree infant teachers are constantly holding, rocking, feeding, singing to or playing with infants. They celebrate each child’s unique interests and favorite activities, building joy and community through play and support.
Meeting Your Child’s World
Infants experience the world from the ground up. That’s why our classrooms are designed to meet them right where they are: on the floor, in cozy, nurturing spaces that spark curiosity and connection. Teachers sit and play alongside infants, engaging in sensory-rich activities that support early development, social bonding, and joyful discovery.
Caring, Observing, Celebrating
Each Apple Tree infant teacher has a unique understanding of the rhythms, moods, and emotions of children. They notice and appreciate even the smallest details of each child’s personality, interests, and temperament, and Apple Tree teachers celebrate growth milestones in partnership with families.
Daily Development Practices
The Apple Tree infant day is an experience of nuturing care, growth and wonder aligned to enhancing the development path of each child. Teachers engage with children using thoughtful tools and meaningful experiences that build rich communication pathways to support intellectual growth, social bonding, and emotional development.
Eating
Eating in Baby Apple is nurturing and social. Young infants are held for bottle feedings to accommodate each child’s individual needs. Older infants who are eating solids and purees are first fed in highchairs, then transitioned to the social setting of a round table with chairs. Creating early community experiences for our youngest members.
Sleeping
Sleep routines are flexible. Young infants sleep in dedicated cribs, or in a teacher’s arms, depending on the needs of the child. Older infants gradually transition to a 2-hour group nap.
Playing
Apple Tree’s infant classroom features calming quiet zones and dynamic activity areas. A mattress-covered quiet space is a comforting area to explore faces and objects and listen to music. Physical development is encouraged through large-muscle play. Manipulation toys enhance sensory and perceptual growth. Language and communication blossom through conversations, songs, and simple games. The outdoors is part of the daily playground experience for older infants. In warm weather, stroller rides and swimming are regular activities.
